University of Chitral is a public-sector university located in Chitral District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. It was established in 2017 by the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and is recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC).

History

The University of Chitral was founded in response to a notification issued by the Higher Education, Archives and Libraries Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on March 31, 2017-2. Before its inception, two university campuses were operating as sub-campuses of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University, Sheringal and Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan-2. The residents of Chitral had long advocated for a full-fledged university, which was finally established by merging these regional campuses--2.

◆ Inaugurated on July 5, 2017, by Imran Khan and Parvez Khattak.
◆ Created to meet growing demand for higher education in Chitral.
