Introduction

The Mong Campus is one of the three campuses of the University of Poonch Rawalakot (UPR), a public sector university in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan. Established in 2012, the university operates across three campuses: the Main Campus in Rawalakot, the Kahuta Campus, and the Mong Campus.

Location

Mong Campus is situated in Mong, Rawalakot Valley, at a distance of approximately 35 km from Rawalakot. The campus is located in the Poonch District of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

History

The Mong Campus was established soon after the university's founding. Within two years of its establishment, the university launched the "Institute of Earth Sciences" at the Mong Campus. The campus was inaugurated on March 28, 2014, by the President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan, who also serves as the university's Chancellor. The campus is named after Sardar Sabaz Ali Khan and Sardar Malli Khan, heroes of the freedom struggle.

Academic Programs

Mong Campus offers undergraduate degree programs, with a focus on earth sciences and education.

Departments and Programs:

• Department of Geology: Offers BS Geology (4-year program). Eligibility includes Pre-Engineering, Pre-Medical, ICS, FA, and I.Com. The department focuses on exploring natural resources and contributing to the country's socio-economic development.

• Department of Education: Offers B.Ed Honours and Associate Degree programs. The department trains prospective teachers and education researchers.

• Additional Programs: The campus also offers BS programs in Mathematics, English, Islamic Studies, and BBA.

Future plans include introducing programs in Geophysics, Hydrology, Meteorology, Physical Geography, Soil Sciences, and Environmental Sciences.

Facilities and Recognition

The campus benefits from the university's overall recognition by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan. The university has over 200 teaching faculty across 6 faculties and 28 departments. Situated in a lush green valley, the campus provides a conducive learning environment.
