Important Notice for Students Planning to Pursue a Degree Abroad

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan has issued an important advisory for students who are currently enrolled in foreign universities or planning to pursue higher education abroad.

Students are advised to carefully verify the approved mode of study with the concerned university before enrollment.

Verify Your Study Mode Before Admission

Students must confirm whether their selected degree program is officially offered as:

• On-campus program
• Online program
• Blended learning program

The recognition of a foreign degree may depend on the approved mode of study.

Important Notice for Foreign Degrees

HEC has announced that effective from Spring 2026, foreign degrees registered as on-campus/conventional programs but completed through fully online or blended modes will not be recognized by HEC.

This applies unless such arrangements are officially approved by the relevant regulatory authority or accrediting body in the respective country.

Before Enrolling in a Foreign University, Ensure:

Students should confirm the following:

• The program's mode of study is officially approved by the country's regulator/accreditor.
• The university and degree program meet the required recognition standards.
• Physical residency requirements are fulfilled according to the policies of the relevant authority.

Important for Equivalence Applications

HEC has clarified that each equivalence application will be reviewed individually based on its own details and requirements.

Students must submit their equivalence applications through the official HEC online system.

Avoid Problems After Graduation

Before applying to any foreign university:

• Research the university's recognition status
• Confirm the approved delivery method
• Check accreditation details
• Keep official records of your study mode

Choosing an unverified program may create difficulties during degree equivalence or recognition in Pakistan.
