The National Academy of Higher Education (NAHE), in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and the Regional English Language Office (RELO) of the U.S. Embassy, is pleased to announce the launch of Global Open Courses (GOCs), a series of online professional development opportunities. These fully online courses are designed to enhance the pedagogical skills of English language educators across Pakistan, offering them access to contemporary, internationally-informed teaching methodologies. The GOCs are open exclusively to full-time faculty members of public sector Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). Eligible regions include Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK), and Islamabad/Rawalpindi. Applicants must have a minimum of three years of professional English language teaching experience to be considered for this prestigious programme. Beyond teaching experience, candidates must demonstrate strong computer literacy and digital skills, as the courses are conducted entirely in a virtual environment. Excellent communication skills are also essential for active participation and collaboration within the online learning community. There are specific eligibility restrictions to note. All applicants must currently reside and work within Pakistan. Dual U.S. citizens are not eligible for this programme. Furthermore, individuals who have previously completed a Global Open Course (GOC) or have participated in any U.S. cultural or academic exchange programme—such as UGRAD, SUSI, TEA, or Fulbright—are also ineligible to apply.
