History of FJMU

The history of FJMU dates back to 1941 when the Punjab Medical Education and Relief Society was formed to establish a medical college. The institution was originally founded as Balak Ram Medical College.

◆ Balak Ram Medical College established in 1942 with 50 students.
◆ College closed at partition, premises abandoned in 1947.
◆ Reopened as Fatima Jinnah Medical College for Women in 1948.
◆ First batch of 39 students admitted in October 1948.
