History

The roots of Institute of Public Health Lahore date back to 1882 when it began as a vaccine institute in colonial India. The British government constituted the Institute of Hygiene and Preventive Medicine on 30 December 1932 to promote research and fight communicable diseases. The institute was renamed Institute of Public Health in 1949, after the creation of Pakistan.
