The campus was announced in 2014 during the visit of the Chancellor of KIU and the President of Pakistan. It started its academic programs in 2016. The campus was inaugurated by the President of Pakistan and has since grown to become a key educational institution in the Hunza Valley. The banner program of the campus is Hospitality and Tourism.
