History of KIMS Kohat

The institute was conceived by Kohat University of Science and Technology (KUST) and inaugurated on April 6, 2006, by the then Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Initially affiliated with KUST, it was transferred to Khyber Medical University as a constituent institute on November 25, 2011. A significant milestone was the inauguration of its new purpose-built building in March 2023. The institute is also known as the Institute of Medical and Dental Sciences, Kohat, as it offers both medical and dental programs.

Campuses of KIMS Kohat

KIMS is located in the Kohat Development Authority (KDA) area, about an hour's drive from Peshawar. Its new, purpose-built facility was inaugurated in March 2023. The institute has two teaching hospitals: Liaqat Memorial Hospital (LMH) and the Divisional Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital, which have a combined capacity of 500 beds. The DHQ Hospital has a newly inaugurated Postgraduate Medical Education Block with state-of-the-art facilities, including an ICU and upcoming CT scan and MRI facilities.
