National Skills University Islamabad is a public-sector university located in Islamabad, Pakistan. It was established in 2018 by upgrading the National Institute of Science and Technical Education (NISTE). The university is Pakistan's first public-sector institution dedicated to producing high-quality graduate and postgraduate technologists to meet the demands of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

History

The origins of National Skills University Islamabad trace back to 1985 when the Federal Government established the National Technical Teachers' Training College (NTTTC). In 1989, the Institute for Promotion of Science Education and Training (IPSET) was established. Both institutions were merged in 1997 and renamed the National Institute of Science and Technical Education (NISTE). The Parliament of Pakistan approved the Act to upgrade NISTE into National Skills University on March 07, 2018, and the President of Pakistan approved the NSU Charter on March 12, 2018.
