History

The history of University of Central Punjab traces back to 1985 when Punjab College of Commerce was established under the Islamic Commerce Educational Society. In August 1996, the Punjab Group of Colleges petitioned the Government of Punjab to establish a university. A No Objection Certificate was issued in October 1999, and operations commenced the same month. The charter to establish the university was awarded in April 2002.
