History

The University of the Punjab was formally established on October 14, 1882, at Simla. It was the fourth university founded by the British colonial authorities in the Indian subcontinent. The university was founded by Gottlieb Wilhelm Leitner. After the creation of Pakistan in 1947, the university relinquished its colleges on Indian territory. The university has produced two Nobel laureates: Dr. Abdus Salam and Har Gobind Khorana.

Campuses
