Introduction

Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (SBBUVAS) is a public sector university dedicated to veterinary and animal sciences education and research. It was established through an Act of the Sindh Assembly passed on 13 September 2012. The university is recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan.

History

The university was inaugurated by President Asif Ali Zardari in December 2012. It was completed at an estimated cost of Rs3 billion. The university was established to serve as the first veterinary institute in Sindh province and only the second in the country.

Campuses

The university operates across multiple campuses:

• Main Campus: Located in Sakrand, Sindh

• Naudero Campus: An additional campus built in Larkana (Naudero area)

• The provincial government allotted 50 acres of land for the university

Academic Programs

The university offers degree programs in veterinary and animal sciences. The primary program offered is the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M.). All departments of the university contribute to this program. Admissions for BS courses for the 2026 session are open, with the last date to apply being 31 October 2026.

Recognition

SBBUVAS is a public sector university recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan. The university has established a Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) to ensure quality learning processes and strengthen academic standards.
